Gigantic Town
Now I’ve arrived at Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur. After being chased and faced the entire problem in the last stop that I did, I determine to get a lot of money to survive. Here, I don’t know anyone except my old friend from village, and my Asics Gel I longed have wear. His name is Zack and we quiet close in high school but then we separated and make our own way after finish our school session. Luckily, I still remember his phone number as we still keep in touch with each other. He is so surprised that I been here in Kuala Lumpur, the big metropolitan city that promises you with everything as long as you know how to deal with it. I say to him that I want to try something new in my life and don’t want to be like a frog underneath the coconut shell. He is so happy with my decision and he promises to give me his full support as long I willing to learn and follow him. He suggests me to change my shoes, but no way, I will not.
He says, he stays in Ampang but working around Chow Kit, Bukit Nenas, Masjid India, Bukit Bintang and areas around that place which where his service needed. I don’t want to ask much about his job as long as I have a place to stay while I’m still unemployed. My first night in Kuala Lumpur is quiet interesting because Zack is eager to show me his gigantic city. Zack bring me for dinner at Kampung Baru where there are so many stalls and restaurants and offer variety of foods and dishes. Then we go to Jalan Lorong Haji Taib near Chow Kit to see transsexual guys and prostitutes go down the road offering people who passing by for their service. After had enough seeing the dark side of Kuala Lumpur, Zack brings me to Dataran Merdeka where I am amuse by the beautiful building of Sultan Abdul Samad which was built in 1894-1897. In Dataran Merdeka I find there are so many motorbike parked and bikers gathered behind the field. Zack says, every weekend this is the place where all the bikers will demonstrate and show their motor and their skill. I am impressed with their effort and boast.
When I notice it is almost 2:00 a.m, Zack said that night is still young and I shall not miss the night scene where many people gather either to sell or buy something. Even he says, somehow I don’t have to spend any money if I don’t want too but I might be lucky if I find a girl at that place. Here I’m now, at Cheras which the place near to Zack’s house. Zack bring me to a night market called “Downtown Cheras” where there are so many small tents that selling a various types of products and goods. Most of the goods can’t be found in supermarket or any store as they will only sell it in this place. The price quiet affordable but we have to be smart to negotiate even to make sure the products that we want to buy are in good quality. Zack is right, I meet this one cute girl even I didn’t buy anything from that place. She is hanging around with her friend at the parking lot. She smiles at me and seems like wanting me to approach her. I’m guessing right, she gets to me and we hang out together for a while until Zack calls me to bring me back home.
It is almost three days and I’m still unemployed, I am desperate for money. At last, I have to ask Zack for his help and whether if he still wants me to join working with him. Last time, I reject his offer to work with him as I know what he does is illegal and wrong. Now I know what he does for living and no doubt he can have a better life with a lot of money from this job. He is a drug dealer and pimp around Kuala Lumpur. Zack is very happy with my decision and thought that he might have more customers. He says, with my good looking and physical attraction, I can make many girls to buy his stuff and even if the girls are too easy to be fooled, I might make them become his prostitute. I am assign to go to this one club house near with Petronas/Kuala Lumpur Twins Tower. Although I am mesmerize for a while with the great architecture of the twins towers but I have a job to settle and need to finish up my assignment as soon as possible. After driving for a few minutes, I reach to Jalan P.Ramlee where there are hot spot for many clubs and bars. This is an area for Zack regular customers to come for chill out.
Zack calls me and he wants me to have a look and to take care of his group of prostitutes in this one club house known as “Tiger Nite Club”. Suddenly I notice, one of the prostitutes is the girl that I met at Downtown Cheras. Zack really a dreadful person, he knows that I like that girl so much until he has to ruin everything that I like or own. Now it seems clear to me now, Zack still has a grudge on me since high school when his girlfriend in high school at that time has crushed on me and broke up with him. All of sudden, I thought I need to help that girl from being sold to another pimp. At last, I manage to escape with the girl and with Zack drug money that still in my pocket which almost fifty thousand ringgit, we run away from Kuala Lumpur, but now not with the Asics Gel, I just hit the pedals with my Asics Gel driving the girl’s car to a safe place where I can start my new life and help the girl to find her way to settle down.
